Season 12 Standard Box Art Revealed
Thanks to TVShowsOnDVD, today sees the reveal of the standard box art for The Complete Twelfth Season on DVD, featuring Comic Book Guy in a Superman-esque pose.
While there is no confirmed US release date as of yet, Amazon UK lists the set with a September 28th release date.
Expect a Comic Book Guy head version to accompany the release.

I got to admit, thats a pretty clever looking boxset, nice the way they have put ‘Season 12′ on it. Looks good.
That is really cool…my guess on the release date is July for US/Canada since the UK is getting it in September
They are taking too long for the releases. I am wondering if they will have new plans about the releases?
I think there are better characters than the Comic Book Guy. What about Ned Flanders, or Ralph?

I suppose when up to the current season are on the shelves, it’ll be a 50:50 ratio of bad to good.

@Eximius – I don’t think they are changing anything at all, they usually release one in August and the other in December.
@Anon – To be fair, they’ll catch up by season 27.

Eximius is right. There are much better characters, but the writers are in love with CBG for some bizarre reason.
i didn’t like the layout of inside the box of season 11… when getting the dvd’s out of the box, i always got annyoed. i cant wait untill this dvd comes out

I think the cover looks great but i hope it has better packaging than season 11
I’ve noitced in this and season 11 dvd that there are themes. I’m a big fan of the simpsons, and i Have the all the current seasons, Snyway, there’s a theme, based on how the menu will look like.
For esample: Season 11, Krusty’s face, and carnival themed menu.
Judging by the fact that its CBG, the menu will probably look like the characters waiting in line to get a new comic book, or get an autograph.

These realises are really taking a long time season 11 was delayed by a writers strike and season 12 has taken about half a year to come out by the time season 20 isrealised on a boxset it would probably be 2013 or even longer to much of a wait we want to enjoy more classic simpsons episodes and it turns out they havent been made yet whats keeping them! but i like the new desiegn spot on! comic guy as superman more like fatman!
Yeah, here’s to hoping they change the packaging. The clear plastic book-style thing was fine, I don’t know why they changed it. Probably to cut costs. But season 11′s packaging was bad. I hope they do not repeat it.
Season 11 packaging was awful alright. All my discs are scratched and I rarely watch it cos it’s not a great season. I’ve had the other 10 seasons for ages and none of them are scratched but two of the discs from season 11 won’t play in my dvd player cos they are so damaged by the stupid packaging.
Ya i hate the season 11 packaging the discs fall out and get scratched or they don’t come out at all season 12 im sure will be better because im sure they wont be as crazy this time i think they should put Ralph on the boxset that would be cool not that CBG isnt

Is there a reason it’s “The Twelfth Season” and not “The complete Eleventh Season”.
i have 2 agree, the season 11 box was very tricky. the first time i got it i couldnt work out where the discs were! also, the main reason the dvds take so long to release is they have to do a commentary. does anyone actually listen to those things? and besides, how long can it take to do a commentary??

I was very careful taking the disc out of the season 11 package…they all worked fine.
As for commentary on all the seasons, I never listen to those. Not just for The Simpsons but any tv shows on dvds too.
my name is billy taylor and i live in australia and the release date has been released for th simpsons season 12 box set here and its 2nd of september. i hope it is much better packaging than season 11. i hope that someone complained to the fox studios about it and the problem hopefully wont be repeated again otherwise people may stop buying the box sets all together and they start to lose profits. i really hope they start releasing two box sets a year again because i cant stand this 1 box set a year thing. its driving me nuts.

I think that putting Comic Book Guy on the box is smart. Since The Simpsons are on Season 20, I think it would be great to see a different character on each box-Ned Flanders, Apu, etc.
I agree that the packaging for season 11 is just horrible. Who’s idea was it to put DVDs of all things between pieces of cardboard? Here’s to hoping season 12 will go back to plastic!
The cover art does look good for this one. I never got into the “face” boxes, I sent in to get the regular box for season 6

As far as commentary, I don’t listen to it.. I do however check out the special features…i.e: old commercials and so on.
I – along with countless others – hated the box for the Season 11 DVD.
It looks like Season 12 box will be the same as Season 11.
Is there anywhere we can contact to demand that the DVD boxes be returned to the brilliant standard of Seasons 1 – 11 ?

I dont know but I’m weird, I barely watch the dvd’s regular. I LOVE THE COMMENTARY!! Really its the only reason why I buy the seasons the day it comes out. Maybe I’m really weird, but listening to the commentaries are awesome entertainment.

I am so excited for this season, I wonder if season box sets will be produced faster now that season 20 is over. Season 11 was pretty tricky with the DVD’s, but the artwork and the theme was pretty cool!

seasons 1-5 was the couch gag. 6-10 were similar as well. seasons 11-15 will be probably similar as seasons 11 and 12 are already similar. seasons 15-20 will probably be different from the ones we know of and be similar to each other. that will go on forever for every season he makes. he will probably make 25 or 30 seasons to make an even amount of boxsets looking similar. i dont know about you people but im a futurama fan too and it would be cool if people that are too old to live could go in jars because matt groening would make the simpsons forever and futurama! futurama would be based on the year 4000 when he would be in a jar in the year 3000. i would buy a jar to watch futurama and the simpsons forever. then probably get rid of the jar when futurama and the simpsons got cancelled so i would die and rest in peace.
