The Simpsons Try Curling

Homer and Marge are off to CanadaHomer and Marge will visit Canada to enter the winter olympics this year in the upcoming 21st season of The Simpsons.

One of the show’s writers, Rob LaZebnik, has revealed the storyline will revolve around the formation of a mixed-doubles team including Principal Skinner and his mother.

Marge, as it turns out, is a natural at the sport, having swept a broom around the house for years on end, but Homer threatens to bring the team down. Meanwhile, Lisa spends her time trying to collect a series of Olympic pins.

Rick Patzke, the chief operating officer for USA Curling, and Edmonton curler Randy Ferbey have both commented on the upcoming show, agreeing that it can only bring a wave of good publicity to a sport that isn’t watched nearly as often as hockey, skiing or figure skating. As well, said Patzke, Homer is the quintessential curler in that he drinks beer, eats doughnuts and makes fun of himself.

Sounds utterly MEH. Haven’t they already been in Canada twice already? :\

The important part is that it’s curling, not that it’s canada. Anyways it’s for the olympics.

Hey doh, i think that it’s just because they ran out of ideas. If they have i wouldn’t be at all suprised they’ve been on air for about 20 years already.

Yep, they are easily running out of ideas…
We had chance to see similar plot in the Simpsons Comics when Marge find out (also spontaneously) that she is good at one very extreme sport.

And I don’t want to mention fact that they have visited Canada twice in the past seasons. If they really got to send the Simpsons out of the States on one episode, they have wide choice of other countries…

Hey nicolas, i agree with you there that they could of easily sent them to another country, and marge has already had a few episodes focusing on her but you never know. Even though they’re running out of ideas they could still be able to come up with good episodes.

I wasn’t able to see this episode, and I’m so wanting to find it online… does anyone know if/when/where it will ever be available for viewing? Or do I have to wait for syndication on TV, or the release of season 21 on disc?? Oh please no!

Would like to play like Marge but do so more like Homer! Four sons and four grandsons so would like to meet the voice of Lisa some time!
