    Ratings: Treehouse of Horror XX

8.59 million people watched the 20th Treehouse of Horror episode last night, meaning The Simpsons was the most-watched show for the night in the entire Animation Domination lineup. The episode was up 5% over the same night last year to a 4.1 adults 18-49 rating.

A repeat of Family Guy still managed to pull in 8.24 million viewers, and 7.75 million watched The Cleveland Show at 8:30pm. American Dad’s ratings were undeniably low last night, with just 6.20 million watching. The Simpsons was the only show in the Animation Domination lineup to see a ratings increase this week.

I am more than happy with this numbers. I hope that numbers in this season will be close to this, and if so there won’t be any fear for the future of the show!

I’ll try to download this episode during the week, can’t wait so see it, and then I’ll give my two cents!

Trust me, its one of the better THoH’s in years, not that the others are bad. Glad the show got better ratings, I hate Family Guy and Cleveland.

The treehouse of horror was good not great but still good, although i did like last years THoH better.
Act1-it was ok, and it had some good jokes,(criss-cross) but it was in black and white, a 7.9/10
Act2-THis one was the best out of all the three, it was the funniest. it wan’t as good as THoH #3 with the zombies but it was still good. 8.3/10
Act3-This one was the worst out of all of them, it was ok but the worst out of all of the 3. 7.7/10
The beginning of the episode was classic. LOL

I give Marbat a 5.0092 for this week. Seriously though, where do the decimals come from? And I wasn’t saying that you couldn’t write your opinion down; I was merely saying that your ratings are unnecessary and apologize if I offended you.

Here’s some negative spin for all of you: despite the ‘positive’ numbers, this was the lowest rated Treehouse Of Horror episode ever. In fact, the yearly Halloween episode has never rated below 10 million viewers, so it’s just skipped the 9 million barrier and jumped straight to 8.

These are typically the highest rating episodes of the season. One episode this season has already pulled better figures, but using that fact as an outlook for the future ratings this season, it could get ugly.

You’re forgetting the 18-49 rating was higher, that’s what really matters.
Besides, 1st time the THOH special airs so early.

Great episode, wonder why they made the 1st act in black and white? I really did not like it that way, but hey, I hope it was a good reason.

The act 3 was just singing and not really sort of scary except for the fact that homer gets killed and blood comes out of him…The other 2 acts was kind of scary (though I do not get scared from THOHs) I’d say 2nd one was the most.

Anyway, I really liked these rating and the fact that simpsons was in the lead, finally beat Family guy first time in this season and other shows!

I quite liked the b&w in the first act, a nice change.

I wouldn’t rate these episodes on how scary they are, they’re not really designed to scare you.

It beat a repeat of Family Guy, that must be noted. Not a new episode.

Am glad Adam pointed those stats out cos I was thinking those numbers still felt a bit low for my liking. If it only just beat a repeated Family Guy, I am actually disapointed for the results. Pessimistic here, I reckon the next new episode will only be in the six millions.

@Everyone – Just calm down. I like to read Marbat’s scores, they are not biased and its his comment. If you don’t like em, simple solution, dont read em.

mr tim, I think the 1st episode was black & White because it was a Hitchcock spoof.

I guess the 3rd act felt a little underwelming, but I actually thought some of the stage act issues were kind of funny, they probably shouldn’t have ended with this act.

I don’t know if they can ever retain the big numbers. The show has been on for 20 years. The zombie bit was funny, but isn’t this the 3rd or 4th time we’ve seen a zombie bit on a Halloween episode? The initial freshness of “hey I’ve never seen that before” is gone.

Adam, the only reason it had 8 million was because it wasn’t preceded by football, (last year’s ep was), and the fact that the night was not ALL NEW. AND they didn’t advertise the ep as much as last year. So, in a way, these numbers are good.

You can defend the numbers all you want but if the show has to rely on an unrelated sport or advertising for good numbers it still reflects how uninterested the general public is in watching the show. This year will bring in low numbers, that is a given.

Let’s take a deep breath, LOL, there’s no reason to be upset about what I wrote; it’s just my opinion, which should be meaningless to you if you dont like it, Marbat. I don’t, i repeat DON’T, mean to offend you. I will leave it at that.

If you don’t get it, you’re probably missing a reference. The first act was black and white because it was in the style of an Alfred Hitchcock movie, and the third act was “just singing” because it was inspired by Sweeny Todd and other musicals of the like.

This was a good episode. I really did enjoy all of the stories in this episode. I agree with Brain the black and white in the first act was a nice change.

However it is worrying that it just bet a repeat of a Family Guy episode. Also even more worrying that the episode was not higher than the usual THOH 10 million viewers.

I really liked this episode as well. I thought it was quite well done. Good religion joke in the middle, very good musical in the third act, and some quality parody overall. I thought it was well done.

A show can be good without good ratings, Adam. So can a movie win an oscar, even though it loses on the box office.

Robert, hes not saying that the show isnt good. Why else would he be on a Simpsons fan site. Just realize that Fox networks will not continue to air a show that does not bring in the ratings. It’s how they make money. Granted, The Simpsons beats American Dad on a regular basis, and probably will with The Cleavland Show as well but you can’t deny they’re on a slippery slope.

I do admit they’re on a slippery slope, but without the simpsons, Fox would not be second in the demos. And ratins aren’t the only reason they cancel shows, you know. The simpsons dvd boxsets ar Fox’s home entertainment best-selling dvds.

i agree with you. I think the Simpsons have at least a few more years. I’d like to see them get 600 episodes. But I don’t have any faith in Fox to make a smart decision about anything. What a Terrible corporation.

Talking about ending The Simpsons sends shivers down my spine. Its been on as long as i remember. I was there watching when the first episode aired and have caught every episode since. I think it’s getting better. The new HD gives it chance to do new things.

If FOX canceled The Simpsons then i would not like one show on it. It would cause me to despise it. It wo’nt end it for so long though because of the reason that The Simpson’s books and DVD’S are so sucessful.

      Fredrik:
I guess it’s because of these reasons:
      1. They have to order the new season from FOX, and most likely, they won’t approve it before at least 4 months is gone.
      2. They need to subtitle all the 21-24 episodes on a season, before they finally can show it here.
      3. The age-rating logo needs to be removed and the HD quality must be converted to SD quality
      3. They’re just lazy, and wants a half-year vacation, before getting the new season (Like always…)

Also, is it just me, or did the age rating for The Simpsons change back to TV-PG? I can remember the 20th seasons had a lot of TV-14 episodes there, but… well well, nothing to do about that.
