New Episode: Homer The Father

Homer The Father airs next Sunday 23rd January.

Homer becomes obsessed with Thicker than Waters, a 1980s family sitcom written by David Mamet (pictured top), and models his parenting skills after the show’s sensible father much to the chagrin on Bart, who desperately sets his sights on a brand new dirt bike. But when Homer insists that Bart must earn the dirt bike, Bart takes matters into his own hands and schemes with Russian and Chinese spies to provide top-secret information in exchange for the new bike, which winds up putting Bart in a precarious situation.

Later, James Lipton (pictured bottom) conducts an interview with a television cast on Inside the Actor’s Studio.

Sounds like this should be a pretty decent episode.

I have to start out by saying, how is bobs burgers still on the air it is the worst show on TV and I hope it dies a slow painful death. The sooner that piece of bantha poodoo is canceled the world will be a better place once again.

Now on to the new Simpson’s episode, well it wasn’t the greatest episode in the season but it wasn’t the worst either. I liked the Chinese spies and homer visiting china to give them nuclear secrets on how to build a nuclear power plant. The Grounds Keeper Willie scene was really funny and I loved the itchy and scratchy short as I always do. The animation was beautiful as always.

The one thing I did not like as much was the made up names for the 80′s TV shows. I no that it is a staple of this show not to name products and TV shows and give them fun little names but I think the jokes would be funnier if they did not do that and call the TV show or product by its real name. That being said I would rather watch a bland episode of the Simpson’s then just about any thing on TV. It is still better then most anything else on TV. The only thing that is slightly better and possibly the best show on TV is Futurama. The best live action show on TV right now is True Blood and a close second is Curb Your Enthusiasm. Now of course this is all IMHO.

Wow. Pretty darn good. And, yet again, I hate the stereotypes. The Chinese people? They were fine for the most part. But the FBI and the other thing just pissed me off once again. Really nice to see how TV influences Homer, though.

In your previous comment you said, “The other stereotypes are actually funny. But this one just isn’t.”

Why do you pick and choose which stereotypes to accept and not accept? Are you implying that it’s okay to portray one group of people stereotypically, but not another?
That sounds pretty ignorant and racist to me because it’s like saying one group of people should be treated more delicately and with special treatment. Aren’t we all supposed to be treated equally? If it’s acceptable to portray one group of people stereotypically, then why shouldn’t it be acceptable to portray all groups of people stereotypically?

let me clarify I thought the episode was pretty good not great. I don’t think I have ever seen a simpsons episode that really bothered me that much not to at least like it. In 22 years I have never seen a really bad episode even the African Safari episode and the episode where Homer joins a grunge band were pretty good episodes. I guess I am pretty easy to please when it comes to entertainment I even liked all six Star Wars films even going so far as to say they were all excellent. I think some people are to critical and analyze every aspect of every film and TV show that they watch. If you want my honest advice just sit back and enjoy what you are watching. You could probably find fault with everything in life if you really looked hard enough but what fun would that be. Enjoy it for what it is, entertainment its not perfect but its fun if you let it.
