Russian Television Censors The Simpsons
A new law passed in Russia bans violence, smoking, and drinking from being portrayed on television before 11pm.
Russian channel 2×2 will now censor all Simpsons episodes, cutting out all segments of Itchy & Scratchy, and replacing them with a black screen.
Also being affected by the new law is South Park, which will not be permitted to air before 11pm.
The law was designed to protect children from information causing harm to their health and development. The Russian government must have had enough of Helen Lovejoy’s “Won’t somebody please think of the children?”
