Feature Length Futurama Episode Hits DVD

Simpsons Channel has been updating you on the brief comings and goings of Futurama since the show began, so it seems fitting to announce that the first of four feature-length episodes hits DVD around North America tomorrow.

The episode titled 'Bender's Big Score' is a fantastic return to form for the show. After watching, you'll begin to wonder why the show was axed and foremost why this episode wasn't released to theaters alongside The Simpsons Movie. The first new episode since the show's four year absence has all the ingredients which will make it one of the best Futurama episodes you'll ever see. It is a delightful adventure into the past, present and future of planet earth featuring all the characters you already know and love as well as some new.

This along with the other to-be-released DVDs will eventually be spliced into individual episodes (one wonders just how) to air on Comedy Central next year. You can pick it up in stores tomorrow or purchase online at Amazon.

Australian Man Fined For Simpsons Piracy
screenshotA Sydney man who uploaded the first known pirated copy of "The Simpsons Movie" to the Internet after recording it on his cell phone was fined $888 by a magistrate Tuesday for breaching copyright. An international operation tracked the unauthorized copy to the home of Jose Duarte, 21, who was arrested in August.

Prosecutor Chuan Ng said the movie was downloaded 3,213 times in the few hours it was available on the Internet. Duarte's lawyer said Duarte tried twice to upload the movie July 26, the release date, several hours ahead of its appearance in most of the world. He thought he'd failed, said the lawyer, Ken Stewart.

"It would appear that this young man had the sophistication of a dead fish," Stewart said. "I have sat and spent time with this young man, ... and I am quite satisfied that he had no idea what he was doing." Duarte pleaded guilty in a Sydney Magistrates Court Tuesday to a charge of distributing copyright material and was fined by 1,000 Australian dollars. more

Ratings: Little Orphan Millie

Little Orphan Millie was another hit for The Simpsons, with 10.57 million viewers -- the second highest this season after last weeks 3-year high. This follows the trend of the same time last year, although then the episode G-I-D'oh had 11.43 million viewers, up 1 million on that year's Treehouse Of Horror. Based on previous years, the show could be in for another week or two of ratings in the 10 million barrier before stabilizing at 8 to 9 million.

FOX was fourth overall for the night while ABC, NBC and FOX all seemingly tied first place among adults 18 - 49. Family Guy had 10.42 million viewers at 9.

New episode Husbands and Knives airs this Sunday.
