The Simpsons celebrated last night with the show's best ratings since January. An average of 9.80 Million viewers tuned in over the hour to watch 24 Minutes and You Kent Always Say What You Want, to see The Simpsons turn 400 episodes old. Last year's season finale drew 8.2 million viewers, 8.7 million tuned in to close Season 16, and 9.2 million in Season 15. The best Season Finale ratings we have on record was in 2003 with 13.4 million viewers. Family Guy's season closer had 9.09 million viewers while American Dad finished with 7.69 million. FOX came third overall for the night and second place among adults. The Simpsons was in second place for the hour.

The Simpsons Turns 400 Tonight!
For a show that stars TV's most prominent underachiever, "The Simpsons" has certainly reached some benchmarks. It passed "The Flintstones" as longest-running animated prime-time show 10 years ago. When its 18th season ends tonight with its 400th episode, it will be the longest-lasting comedy of any kind in prime-time TV history, surpassing "My Three Sons," "M*A*S*H," "Happy Days" and "Cheers." True, "[The Adventures of] Ozzie and Harriet," which lasted 17 seasons, still holds the record for episodes produced: 435. But "The Simpsons" has a contract to go through a 20th season, when it will surpass that number in 2008. "We have writers now who are so young that they grew up watching the show," says show creator Matt Groening. "They remind some of us who have been around longer that we've already done a joke that somebody is pitching." "We've said on the show that Bart was born in 1980," says executive producer Al Jean. "We have a writer on the show who is now younger than Bart."
Ratings: Stop Or My Dog Will Shoot
The Simpsons hit low figures again, with 6.48 million tuning in to watch Sunday night's 'Stop Or My Dog Will Shoot'. It is the third-lowest rated premiere episode on record, just ahead of Marge Gamer last month (6.40 million) and The Way We Weren't in Season 15 (6.2 million). A repeat at 8.30 scored 6.7 million viewers, while Family Guy at 9 had 7.21 million. The episode has raised a number of questions, as it was postponed from its original airdate of three weeks ago (we assumed) due to events at Virginia Tech. While the episode did not include any directly offensive content on this matter, Rudy Giuliani was notably absent despite his appearance on the promotional material. Seems like the episode was delayed to remove his scenes. And next week is the Season Finale, but the big question is, which episode will air at 8.30pm and become the 400th episode. Fox can't make up their mind, despite hyping up 24 Minutes as the finale, they've switched the titles at the last minute but not the synopsis on their scheduling details. So.. wait and see I guess!
New Episode: Stop Or My Dog Will Shoot
Homer is upset when he realizes that Marge brought him and the family to a boring Harvest Fest instead of his much-anticipated day of debauchery at October Fest. Attempting to leave, Homer accidentally drags the family into a puzzling cornfield maze. When the whole family manages to escape except for Homer, they send out Santa’s Little Helper, who sniffs out Homer and rescues him. Santa’s Little Helper becomes a local hero and the Simpsons decide to enroll him in Police Dog Academy, where he’s teamed with a grizzled veteran cop named Lou and they become a crime-busting duo.

EA Announces 'The Simpsons' Game
EA have today announced what we hinted at a couple of weeks back, an all new Simpsons game for Wii, Xbox360, PS3, DS and PSP. The website dedicated to the game was launched but provides little information on the game. So we went to GameSpot. In the latest game there will be 16 levels which take the form of episodes, each with a unique title animation, setting, and story. Within each "episode" players will take control of two family members, or play one of them with a friend in a split-screen two-player mode. The Simpsons realise that they are trapped in a video game, and decide that they might as well use the opportunity to give themselves special powers. For instance, Bart can become Bartman, and Homer can transform into the Homerball. According to EA, the game makes fun of the video game industry, along with pop culture. You can read a full preview here.
Season Ten DVD Details Announced
It's official. The Simpsons: The Complete Tenth Season will be released on August 7 and will contain loads of extras. In addition to the 23 episodes, the set will contain Deleted Scenes, Animation Showcases, Animatics, Simpsons Movie DVD Sneak Peek, Butterfinger, Intel and CC's commercials, Crank Calls feature, and a bit from the animators. Preliminary details only feature commentaries on 16 of the 23 episodes but these details may still be incomplete. The cover will complete the head set, this time featuring Bart (the one on the right is just my mock-up, but if it looks any different I'll eat my hat); and will come in an alternate box just like the last four. We expect official box art to follow this news very soon. For further details on extras, go to TVShowsOnDVD.
