The Simpsons has topped the 2012 Writers Guild of America Broadcasting Awards with a total of 4 nominations, all in the same category.

The category is as follows:

ANIMATION

“Bart Stops to Smell the Roosevelts” (The Simpsons), Written by Tim Long; Fox

“The Blue and the Gray” (The Simpsons), Written by Rob LaZebnik; Fox

“The Silence of the Clamps” (Futurama), Written by Eric Rogers; Comedy Central

The 64th annual WGA Awards will be given out in a ceremony in Los Angeles on February 19th, 2012.

It wasn’t all bad news though, as Dan Castellaneta was awarded his fourth Emmy in the voice-over category for his work as Homer Simpson in ‘Father Knows Worst’. This means that contenders Harry Shearer and Hank Azaria missed out, but at least the award stayed in the Simpsons family. Congratulations Dan!

The Simpsons was also nominated in the Outstanding Musical Composition category for the music in  ‘Gone Maggie Gone’, but lost to ABC series “Legend Of The Seeker”.

The Simpsons will feature in this year’s Teen Choice Awards in the “Choice TV: Animated Show award” category. Family Guy, American Dad! and South Park are also up for the award.

Teen Choice 2009 will celebrate the hottest teen icons in film, television, music, sports and fashion in the choicest, star-studded two-hour event airing Monday, August 10th at 8:00pm on Fox.

In celebration of it’s 60th awards show, this year, The Emmy’s will be taking the nostalgic route by placing some of today’s biggest television stars in scenes from the classics to connect the past and present. Erlich also said that a popular TV cast that split up more than a decade ago will reunite on the show. The show will also feature famous show lines and the most memorable television moments voted on by fans.

Their episode “Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind,” which focuses on Homer’s attempt to recall a deliberately forgotten memory from the previous night, sealed their 10th win for the category.

The show was also nominated, via Alf Clausen, for his music in Treehouse Of Horror XVIII, however, he was not so successful, losing out to Pushing Daisy’s Jim Dooley

The nominees this year were ‘The Haw-Hawed Couple,’ ‘Homer of Seville,’ ‘Kill Gil Volumes 1&2,’ ‘Stop or My Dog Will Shoot!,’ and King Of The Hill episodes ‘The Passion of the Dauterive’ and ‘Lucky’s Wedding Suit.’ The winner was Kill Gil Volumes 1 & 2, written by Jeff Westbrook. Congratulations.

The Simpsons Game was also nominated in the first ever video game nominations, but was beat out by ‘Dead Head Fred’.

The award winners will be announced in mid September.

Up against some stiff competition, namely, itself, The Simpsons took home yet another Writers Guild Award in the Animation category for 2006. John Frink won the award for the episode “The Italian Bob,” trumping “Kiss Kiss Bang Bangalore,” “Simpsons Christmas Stories,” and “Girls Just Want To Have Sums.” Since the animation category was introduced to the awards, The Simpsons have made it their tradition to take the award from the competition. Congratulations to John Frink and to all those which were nominated.

This year’s Emmy win gives executive producer James L. Brooks his nineteenth Emmy, breaking the record for the most Emmy’s won by a person. Nine of these have been received for his work on The Simpsons. Congratulations to James L. Brooks and the entire team for their win.
