Simpsonit – Jouni Writes A Book

The owner and webmaster of The Simpsons Archive, Jouni Paakkinen can today add ‘Simpsons author’ to his list of achievements. Jouni has written and published his first dedication ‘Simpsonit: Keltaisen perheen kaksi vuosikymmentä’, a 265 page book based on The Simpsons, released today in Finland. The book is only available in Finnish but there are hopes of an English translation on the way.

“Two Decades of the Yellow Family” covers the copious interesting events and occurrences that have taken place over the animated show’s twenty-year run. The book takes the reader through inception, development and production, as well as looking at series highlights and various curiosities. How did it all begin? How is an episode made? Who are the voices of Moe the Bartender and Mayor Quimby based on? What is the origin of “d’oh!”? What was Smithers’ skin colour when he first appeared? Why was Maude Flanders killed off? And which king of pop has teamed up with the Simpsons using as many as three different pseudonyms? Alongside the book proper, there is a trivia question on each double page. Some of the best lines from the show’s history are naturally also included.

The Simpsons Gallery Redesigns

The Simpsons Gallery has been given an excellent new design today. The five year old site is now in its tenth redesign, which bases itself on a Simpsons promo card. Gone is the purple/blue color scheme you’ve been used to; the site has gone green to fit the Springfield theme.

Simpsons Top 100 Calls It A Day

The Simpsons Top 100 has decided to close its doors for good after serving the Simpsons web community for 7 years. Due to a lack of time, interest, and recently losing the domain after renewal issues, the owner Bryan Ludvigsen decided to make the closure official today. The Springfield Message Board still remains online.

The Simpsons Top 100 has been redesigned, reformatted, and updated for your viewing. The owner has returned a form of simplicity to the site allowing ease of use and frequent updates. Gone are user ranked lists based on secondary factors like design; the site now offers one list of the 100 greatest Simpsons sites on the net and web news on the front page.

Last Exit To Springfield X

Website Last Exit To Springfield has been given a new design to coincide with tonight’s official season premiere. Things have been kept fairly similar to the previous design with an outdoors feel but it’s a lot brighter and easier to navigate this time around. There’s also a few new sections and some new content for its existing sections. Check it out!

The New Simpsons Folder

The Simpsons Folder has been redesigned again. The new look keeps the same kind of theme and simplicity as the previous two designs, though there’s no animated train station focus with this version. Clean, crisp, original, and does the job. The site remains one of the oldest and most informative Simpsons sites on the net.

Website The Simpsons Gallery has been redesigned today. The new design has some similar aspects to its previous look which was about a year old. The new feel and colors are a welcome change. The Simpsons Gallery continues to provide many image galleries as well as information about the show to make it one of the best Simpsons sites online.

Maggie And Eric has received a makeover after 18 months with the same design. Nice, simple, and compact as expected from this website with an original concept.

D’oheth has closed its doors and shifted its content off to Simpson Crazy. The site has opted to keep the SC design and will now offer the best of both sites. Springfield! Springfield! has reopened after a C&D notice that caused its closure a year ago. The design is similar to its old days and it’s content seems to be in tact.

Summer @ Destination Springfield

Summer this year has brought Simpsons news to a halt, but we’ve recognized that when it comes to websites, it’s a time when you’ve got more time to redesign, relaunch, and create new sites. Look! Web news is back!

Our first piece of website news this year sees Destination: Springfield return after a long absence with a Summer themed design. The content is being added gradually but all pictures, framegrabs, production art, and ullman shorts are online and working right now.

Some notable news from last month was the redesigning of That’s Unpossible. It’s been updated very regularly since the change and has certainly earnt the title of one of the best character sites on the net.
