Ratings: Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special In 3D On Ice

The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special – In 3D on Ice, presented by Morgan Spurlock, was an hour long retrospective showcasing 20 years and 450 episodes of the show. Viewers old and new were treated to a rare brief history of the show, through the words of its producers, writers, stars, and guest stars. 13.46 million viewers tuned in to the first half hour of the special, and 11.171 million stayed watching for the second half.

Promo: Once Upon a Time in Springfield

Fox have released a promotional image for Sunday January 10th’s premiere of “Once Upon a Time in Springfield”, the milestone 450th episode of The Simpsons. Krusty the Clown is forced to hire an actress named Princess Penelope for The Krusty the Clown Show to generate more young, female viewers. Krusty and Princess Penelope end up in a relationship.

The Simpsons Desktop App

Coming soon from the official Simpsons website is a new desktop application celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Simpsons. The app allows users to send “virtual pranks” to one another’s computers.

Simpsons Renewed Til Season 22

Fox has ordered two more seasons of The Simpsons that will make the animated hit the longest-running series in primetime TV history. The 44-episode pickup will bring the show to a whopping 493 episodes. “Gunsmoke” has held the record as the longest-running series and was on the air for 20 years. With this renewal, “The Simpsons” will easily take the lead.
