A repeat of Family Guy still managed to pull in 8.24 million viewers, and 7.75 million watched The Cleveland Show at 8:30pm. American Dad’s ratings were undeniably low last night, with just 6.20 million watching. The Simpsons was the only show in the Animation Domination lineup to see a ratings increase this week.

Act 1: Krusty’s latest fast food sandwich transforms Springfield into engraged zombies and twenty-eight days later, these munchers have overrun the town.

Act 2: Homer accidentally falls through a trapdoor in Moe’s tavern and impales himself on the pipes of Moe’s microbrewery. Moe serves Marge and the barflies glasses of delicious beer flavored with Homer’s blood while Homer, now half-man, half-brewing apparatus, trapped underneath the bar sings about his fate a’la Sweeney Todd.

Act 3: Lisa strikes a deal with Bart to take revenge on their teachers, but whenthe pan goes awry Lisa turns her vengence towards Bart in a series of homages to classic Hitchcock, including “Vertigo,” “Psycho,” “North By Northwest” and “Spellbound.”

Treehouse of Horror episodes always tend to be high rating, and this year’s was clearly no exception — More people watched this episode than ANY Season 19 and 17 episode. THOHXIX scored viewers higher than any episode since Season 18′s ‘The Wife Aquatic’ in January 2007 (13.9 million). To find the next highest ratings after that we had to go to Season 16′s ‘Homer & Ned’s Hail Mary Pass’ in 2005, which had 23.1 million viewers. But before that it was Season 15′s ‘I, D’oh-bot’ (16.3 million), and that season’s very own Treehouse ep (16.2 million). Season 14′s Treehouse Of Horror XIII had 16.7 million.

To summarise, Treehouse Of Horror XIX is the third highest rating THOH episode we have on record and the most watched THOH in 5 years. It it the most watched episode since January 07 and the third highest rating of any episode in four years.

The show also trounced Family Guy (9.97 million), the recently cancelled King Of The Hill (8.60 million), and American Dad (7.20 million) for the night. FOX was fourth placed overall and first placed among adults 18 – 49. The Simpsons and King Of The Hill were third in the 8:00 timeslot behind Sunday Night Football and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

How to Get Ahead in Dead-Vertising: Homer discovers that the likenesses of dead celebrities can be put in commercials for free, so he starts killing celebrities. After killing Krusty, the Clown convinces dead celebrities to stage an attack upon Homer.

Untitled Robot Parody: In a parody of Transformers, Bart buys a Malibu Stacy convertible for Lisa from a 99 cent store, which turns out to be a Transformer. When the Autobots and Decepticons bring their conflict to Springfield, Marge asks why the robots war with one another, inspiring the two sides to team up and conquer the human race.

It’s the Grand Pumpkin, Milhouse: In a parody of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, the Grand Pumpkin comes to life and becomes upset with human beings carving up pumpkins, so it tries to eat everyone.

Simpsons Comics #147 (Out Next Week):
It’s Science Fair time at Springfield Elementary, and Lisa sets out to win the top prize. Her daring experiment into the genetic similarities between the members of the Simpson family blows up in her face when she discovers that one member of her immediate family is not a blood relative. You’ll never guess who it is!

Bart Simpson #44 (Out Next Week): 
Bart and his pals take advantage of the school’s accidentally over-watered field and turn it into a mud pit of massive proportions; then Jimbo Jones is forced into community service at the Springfield Retirement Castle; and Homer takes his daughters to work only to have Lisa protest the dangers of nuclear power while Maggie is exposed to them. 

The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror #14 (Out Now): 
Bart Simpson spins some thrillifying chiller-diller horror stories with a little help from some of comicdom’s most innovative storytellers. First up, modern masters of horror comics Steve Niles (30 Days of Night, Criminal Macabre) and Glenn Fabry (Preacher, Hellblazer) concoct a dread-filled tale of woe, when a freak solar eclipse leads to an onslaught of vampire attacks, and the people of Springfield learn that there is nothing to fear but Nosferatu himself! Then independent comic creator and magic realist Gilbert Hernandez (Love and Rockets, Palomar) reinvents one of his favorite film cults, Frankenstein Conquers The World, featuring Homer Simpson as a gluttonously destructive force of nature.

In this year’s chilling trio of Halloween tales, Homer kills off celebrities so their likenesses can be exploited free-of-charge in “How to Get Ahead in Dead-Vertising”. Next, Transformer-like robots duke it out in Springfield in “Untitled Robot Parody”. And in “It’s the Grand Pumpkin, Milhouse”, Lisa accompanies Milhouse to a pumpkin patch to await the appearance of the Grand Pumpkin. But when he finally appears, the Grand Pumpkin discovers people carving, disfiguring and eating his own kind, and he goes on a rampage of revenge.
