The Simpsons Get The Minecraft Treatment, Obviously

Ah, the Internet, is there anything it can’t do? A fan of The Simpsons and Minecraft has put his power of love to use and conjured up this treatment of the title sequence from the show. It turned out pretty good considering it is just blocks. A few corners are cut obviously, but you get the idea.

I think I speak for all of us when I say: NERRRRRDDDDDD!

The Simpsons Game In Stores Today

The Simpsons Game lands in stores across the US today, available on Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PS2, PSP and Nintendo DS. Those in Europe will have to wait til Friday, while the game hits Australia next Thursday November 8. The first reviews are in, read below what IGN had to say about the 360 version of the game.

“The Simpsons Game is exactly what it had to be, but nothing more. As it stands The Simpsons is a enjoyable, though very short, single-player game that both hardcore and casual Simpsons fans will love. Heck, if you like to laugh then this game is at least worth a rental.” Overall: 7.7/10

EA Upsets Companies With Simpsons Game

EA’s forthcoming The Simpsons game parodies 30 years of videogaming and gaming IPs, but there are games companies that have refused to see the funny side of things. “I was always under the impression that when you do parody, it’s a sign of respect… If we make fun of Grand Theft Auto, we’re not going to hurt the sales of Grand Theft Auto… But yeah, we’ve definitely had some reactions – we’ve had to pull stuff from the game”, The Simpsons Game lead designer Greg Rizzer revealed to Computer & Video Games in an interview earlier this week.

“But that’s cool to me”, Rizzer continued. “It’s cool to still know, I feel, that the industry’s been waiting for a game like this to come along. It’s been too long since we really had one, and of course [there's] The Simpsons being the perfect vehicle to poke fun at the games industry.”

Official box arts for the latest Simpsons video game, creatively titled The Simpsons Game, have been revealed by Electronic Arts.
